After all the hype given to the Twilight series, I expected something, well, more. Although the book was readable, the plot was nothing new or original. I mean, sure Stephenie Meyer added a few new twists to vampires...such as all the "glittering in the sunlight"...but it was all very superficial at best.
However, that is not to say that the entire book was horrible, because like I said before it was readable. The one redeeming quality of the novel was the romantic element of the tale. The romance was done very well, even though I would have preferred more conflict. (Other than the whole, overdone, immortality versus mortality element.)
Sorry, vampire fans, this one just didn't do it for me!
