Todd Hewitt is the last boy in Prentisstown. Although, Prentisstown isn't like other towns. Everyone can hear everyone else's thoughts in a constant, overwhelming, never-ending Noise. There is no privacy. There are no secrets. Or are there? Just one month away from the birthday that will make him a man, Todd unexpectedly stumbles upon a spot of complete silence. It isn't supposed to be possible. Prentisstown has been lying to him and now he's going to have to run...
This book was incredibly unique, or at least I have never ran into a book like it! It is a page turner, its fast pasting, filled with action and tragedy to such an extent you will not want to put it down. The book is about growing up, being unique, rebellion, survival, truth, love, hope, and never giving up.
I found the book a little difficult to get into at first because of its peculiar writing style. But I insist that you continue since as the story progresses it is facsinating and entertaining. Also I must warn you the book is a little bit dark and ends with an unhappy note. Other than that it was an excellent book and I strongly suggest that you read it.
