Juli and Bryce have known each other since second grade when Bryce’s family moved in across the street from Juli’s. For Juli it was insta-love at first sight. For Bryce all he wanted to do is run away from Juli. Six years later the two are in 8th grade and their relationship has “flipped.” Bryce is dazzled by Juli’s unique zest for life but all Juli can see in Bryce is a once-attractive boy that’s been corrupted by popularity and vanity. Is Bryce too late to show Juli he really does care? Told in alternating chapters from the two teens' perspectives Flipped is a love story you’ll want to hug when you’ve finished reading it.
This book was awesome. It gave me a lot of chuckles and close tears. It's a very nice and detailed novel that you will be finished in 2 or 3 days. The way the story is told is very cool, with both characters talking from their own view of point. But this book is more suitable for grades 7-8 since if you're older, you'll be snoozing through this book. A good read overall.
I read this book in grade 6 and was blown away. My favourite aspect was the fact that you had to flip the book upside down to read the other point of view, be it Juli's or Bryce's. Though the story was a bit elementary, the basic plot outline was good. It definitely brought out the emotion in me, both sad and happy. However, probably not recommended for those seeking a more complex and thrilling read.
I'd heard a lot about Flipped, and decided to read it. I was not disappointed as the description was good, and the characters and plot were cute.
Though anyone could read and enjoy Flipped, I do recommened it for pre-teens.
I think I lost this book, but I remember reading it in Grade 6 (or was it Grade 7?). The main reason I probably bought it was because of the childhood romance rotating around Bryce and Juli. It was very sweet, loving, and touching. Although they are merely young children, their love is, at some stages, astonishingly mature. However, now that I'm nearing high school graduation, the basic concept of those intimate feelings and the easy language are likely to be unappealing and a bit too broad for an older teen's eyes. Back then, I didn't realize how popular the story would become since it seemed like any other ordinary chick flick. For the layout of the pages and cover though, the author must have put in alot of creativity and thought in helping to produce the finished product. Worth reading when you're a pre-teen, but look for something more sophisticated if you're older than fourteen.
I found that this book was really easy to relate to, and it was very believable. The funny randomness in the book (such as the chicks and the Mysterious Pisser) complimented the serious romance. I liked how the book showed the views of both the main characters, Bryce and Juli. It was easier to understand that way and just sucked you into the story. I couldn't put it down until I finally finished it. After I finished it, my sister wanted to read it, and I could hear her laughing all over the house! This is an excellent book, it's very rewarding if you take the time to read it.
This book is one of my favourites. It's funny and I really like that there's two point of views. It's refreshing and I finished the book in a day. I was sad and happy at the same time. It was hard to find a book to read after Flipped. It was that good. BELIEVE ME!
Flipped, great book for people who are just starting to read romance, Its basically what you kinda go through in elementary or middle school. Those feeling you have on your crush, get "flipped" or that childhood friend you know, and you start getting closer and you always wonder where its going to go? Juli and Bryce really remind me of 2 people I knew, it pretty funny. Anyways, a great read for all, first read it in gr.5 too XD
I have to say.. it is definitely simple to the simplest. I enjoy the creativity of the writer, who created the two sides of the story. It's cute and definitely captured my attention. But the plot-story-line is not as special... it is just a nice book.. recommend it to younger kids.. preteens... but teenagers.. it depends.. some of you might like how it can reflect upon your younger experiences... with love and such.. but others might think of it as a bit boring, not as complex. Overall, for me, I'd say it suited me just fine.. nothing too special though .. it's simple !
I loved this book! It had great characters and really captured grade 8 life perfectly-- the gossip grapevines, the sudden popularity gains and losses, the how-tan-are-you game. The difference between the perspective of the two characters really draws the reader in.
I really enjoyed how this book gave two perspectives. It made me feel like I wanted to scream at the characters to just talk and sort all of this confusion out. I love the story line, the characters and everything. It was a light, feel good book that I recomend to everyone. 3 1/2 /5*
I read this book in grade 7, and I loved it. I liked how they had it so that it was from both points of views, and you got to see the whole story, including their intentions and everything, and what they thought of how the other charater reacted. I seriously almost cried when the tree got cut down, and laughed during all the funny parts.
You have to read this!
I didn't really like this book. I found it very simple, and just a book for younger kids. I didn't like how it kept swiching back and forth, talking about the same thing. I found it boring. I also didn't like the ending. It was way to abrupt. I would have liked it better if they had had more details.
This is a laugh-out-loud book. It's interesting to see both sides of the story-- Juli and Byrce's -- and how they differ. Juli thinks she's being subtle while Bryce thinks that what Juli's doing is creepishly obvious.
I loved how ironic it was that in the end it flips -- Bryce likes Juli, not the other way around anymore. It shows teenagers so well. How, when you like someone you get all head over heels and they're all you ever think about, but after it goes away, you think "why did i ever like him in the first place!?"
This is definately a book you'd want to read-- funny and silly. Especially when Juli describes the situation!
