I confess I was forced to read this book for English and didn't just pick it up on my own accord because it's classic and it's supposed to be an excellent read. I honestly belived it would be as boring as Pride and Prejudice (which I despise) but surprise...surprise. I didn't go on sparknotes, I read the entire book. And loved every moment of it. Jane Eyre is a great character, she has no amazing qualities, she's a plain girl and it says so, many times in the novel. It's a love story that'll keep you guessing until the very end and it has amazing characters that you'll love.  I reccomend it.

And if you liked Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre, you must absolutely read her sister Emily's novel, Wuthering Heights. I think it's even better.

Jane Eyre seems like a typical classic novel at first glance, and it is. However, the language of the novel is not as stiff and complicated like the typical classics; instead, this novel is written in a young girl's perspective, therefore the language is actually very light and not that hard to comprehend. It was such an enjoyable read, too, unlike the typical boring classics. The book started with Jane's childhood, and how she was abbused at her aunt's home. The events are quite fast-paced for a classic novel, so you would actually want to keep reading pages after pages. The romantic love between Jane and Mr. Rochester is very intriguing and moving. All in all, Jane Eyre is a great classic, and It's definitely a book that's worth reading not just for school, but for a peaceful summer's day as well.

Probably like many others out there, I began reading JE somewhat reluctantly. One of my friends had been pestering me for weeks to read it--she said it was SO GOOD and I HAD TO read it, etc etc... so I finally started it, just to get her off my back... and was I ever surprised!!! Jane Eyre was not only good, it was FANTASTIC!! Easily one of the best classics out there.. what surprised me most about it was how the author created a intense sense of mystery along with a vein of firery passion in her writing, so that I was almost late for school one morning because I couldn't tear myself away from Jane and her story! If I could be anyone out of a novel, I think I would be Jane; she is determined, compassionate and true to herself, but is also passionate and has a sense of humor. So, all in all, Jane Eyre is a masterpiece that has everything a reader could ever want: mystery, suspense, romance, great characters and even some depth and themes guiding the whole story. Recommended to EVERYONE!!!

Is Jane Eyre worth reading? Yes. Are there parts where you feel the book drags on endlessly? Certainly. However, the story of the plain-Jane orphan has won readers over for generations and I can see why. The good parts of the book outweigh the boring ones, and thankfully dozing through a few of the boring pages won't ruin your chances of understanding the rest of the story. I would recomend this book to girls who like mystery, love stories, and classics.

Jane Eyre was a fantastic book! It's cool because it has something for everyone, like my friend liked the parts where Jane was an orphan, and I liked the parts where Jane was an adult and had to find her own way in the world. I was expecting it to be a harder read, but I was suprised how it sucked me in! There were some parts I had to slog through (long descriptions of the countryside, passages where basically nothing happens, half of a chapter where she goes out to the moors, comes back in to tend the fire, goes out, comes back in, mulls things over, goes out, comes back in, goes out, feels the wind on her face, comes back in....) but overall, it was a really good book. I would recommend it to anyone who likes classics, romance, stories about orphans who are mistreated but come up triumphant, gothic things, some elements of mystery, hard decisions, and romance.  Overall, a really great book! However, I recommend it for people who are 12 and older.
