I read this just last year, and when I finished, I couldn't believe the author was only sixteen and could make up such an enjoyable read. A few years ago, I'd say these things actually did happen and I was glad that the author was putting it into a book. It's rather an emotional and heartbreaking read, but its veryg ood, so you must go read it!

IO really liked this book because it's about a completly different lifestyle but with kids that are just around my age. It gives us insight into a more harsher reality of the world about gangs and what-not. I really liked S.E. hintons writing style because we get to know the thoughts of the characters during struggles frienships etc. I recomend this book to anyone who wants to read a story with a good storyline and plot.

This book was assigned by my teacher. I was not excited at all, because I always think the books the teacher assigned us is boring. However, this book was pure amazing, the characters are so real and it really describes teenagers problems. It was really fun reading it, it was way much fun then the movie Outsiders. This book really makes you feel great and I love how ponyboy and the greasers had to try to solve the problems with there worse enemy-the greasers!

***SPOILER ALERT*** I read this book with my class and it was totally awesome how the author had written it basically in her teen years. I hated how Johnny died, but I liked how he died to save young children who were caught in a burning church. i didn't like how Dally died either, how he was bluffing with the police so that they would shoot him dead, but maybe thats a reality in some places. I liked how after that Ponyboy he was depressed not like in some books where the characters just bounce right back like Mr. Invincible. It showed he was vulnerable and make him more real.

We read this in school and it was amazing i finished long before we were supposed to. The tough lives of the tuff Greasers, who were one big family and had no one else but each other. While it is about how rough it was for them, Cherry's quote "things are rough all over" makes you think about how people are different are the inside and everyone has problems. It rlly touches your heart.

We had to read this in school this year and it will always be one of my favorite books. S.E.Hinton was only 16 when she wrote this book and she still put so much effort into the details of the story. This book digs deep down into you heart and make you really think about what the gang wars were and how hard just being around certain people can change your life. Hinton layed out the characters in a way that you'll always remember them. My mom who read this when it first came out still says this is her favorite book. All of the emotions that are pilled up, varying from happiness to sadness, catch you even when you least expect it. You cry both tears of sad and joy when you read this touching novel. Thanks to S.E.Hinton for this amazing story.

I read the Outsiders a few years back and it wasn't too bad of a read, since I had to read it for English. It deals around Ponyboy and his brothers in the 60s where different gangs decided their differences by having open fights and causing other troubles. I can't remember too much about what happens in it, but I can say it wasn't too bad of a read since I did enjoy it a bit.

I really liked this book. I thought it was very well-written considering S.E Hinton was only sixteen when she wrote it. However, after reading this book, I read a few other S.E Hinton novels and I found that in all of them the endings were very sad and the characters became quite depressed paticularly in "That was Then, This is Now".  I quite enjoyed finding out what it was like to live  in the 60's and also found it intresting how common and acceptable smoking was in those times. "The Outsiders" also made me wonder if the terms "greasers" and "socs" were as commonly used  in real life back them as they were depicted being used in the book.

It was real, wasn't idealized or romanticized, and that's enough to make it a great read for me. It caught the right mood of the time and situation, of the generation. The characters of Johnny and Dally stood out the most for me, just because of how different they were form all the rest. They were both genuine, as much as Dally tried to hide it, and I hated that they died in the end, Johnny trying to save the little kids, Dally, in the end, from frustration and grief. It's a striking story, and heart-rending. I didn't like the casting in the movie, but it doesn't change the quality of the book and how timeless the story is.

The Outsiders is an absolutely amazing book. It tells the moving story of fourteen year old Ponyboy and his gang of greasers on the 1960's. It transports you into their chaotic world, one of turmoil and sorrow. You live with Ponyboy and his gang, share their ups and downs, feel the rollercoaster emotions that they experience as if you are there. It is the beautifully written story of a young boy who faces many more hardships than most of us will ever face, and yet one can still identify with them. The style is real and true. An extraordinary story of friendship and loyalty,.

I read this book in grade 8 as a class in humanities and it was a great book. It had to be understood at a deeper level. But there were times in the book were you could relate it to reality. It also gave a sense of how live was like in the 60's and how Ponyboy and his brothers deal with the "Socs" who are the group of rich kids that seem to have everything they want. The part that I loved most about the book was the ending, however im not going to ruin it for you guys by saying anything. But I encourage you to go out and get this book. Its good!

the outsiders is a book worth reading. It shows you a different side of life, or what was. I really loved this book because it kinda showed me a little history and I felt that I learned something about their life style. Ponyboy meets Cherry and I think that's kind of a forbidden thing; meeting others not in your social group was...strange to them. I feel this book should be read at least once in everyone's life because it can teach you about what really happend in the 60's in a teen related, non- boring way.
